Q: How long does it take to visit New Market
Battlefield State Historical Park?
The average visitor spends 2.5 to 3 hours exploring the museum and grounds.
Since most visitors are self-guided, you can set your own pace. Your admission
ticket is valid for seven days from the date of purchase, allowing return
visits as your discretion.
Q: Can we picnic on the grounds?
A: Yes, picnic tables are located near the Hall of Valor
Museum and at a parking area on the battlefield.
Q: Do you accept passes issued by the National
Park Service or Virginia State Park System?
A: New Market Battlefield State Historical Park is owned
by the Commonwealth of Virginia and administered through the Virginia
Military Institute, a state college. We are not part of the NPS or Virginia
Park System, therefore can not honor passes issued by those groups.
We do not receive
federal or state funding. Your admissions purchase helps provide support
to our mission of heritage preservation and education. Thanks!

and historical buildings?

not in the theater during the showing of the film.)

Q: Does the Park have a museum store?
A: One of the best in the Valley! You will find a wide
variety of items relating to the 19th century military and civilian life--
many items have been developed based on items from the collection. All
proceeds support the Parks's mission of heritage preservation and education.
Q: Are pets permitted in the Park?
A:Pets are welcome at the park provided they do not disturb other visitors or the animals who call our park their home. Pets must be kept on a leash not to exceed six (6) feet and under the owner’s control at all times. Pets are not permitted on guided tours or other staff-led programs. Owners are required to clean up after their pets. “Mutt Mitt” pet waste stations can be found at three locations on the park grounds to assist you. Pets are not permitted on Park property during the annual Battle of New Market Reenactment.
