Directions

Exit at 188-B (60 West) and proceed to Lexington (a couple of miles). 

Turn right at the light on Main St/11N (which is one way north at this point).  Immediately move into the left lane. 

After 2 blocks the left lane is forced to turn left onto Jefferson St (one way south).

Immediately move into the right lane and make a hard right onto Letcher Avenue.

Proceed about 100' on Letcher until you enter VMI.  Park along the parade ground (the large open field to your left).

Exit at 191 from I-81 onto Route 11.  Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto 11S.

In one mile, just after crossing the Maury River Bridge, the road will Y.  Bear right to stay on Main Street and avoid taking the 11 Bypass.

A few hundred feet after passing under the the stone bridge inscribed "Virginia Military Institute" the two-way road will split into two one-way roads, forcing you to the right into Jefferson Street. 

Immediately make a hard right onto Letcher Avenue.  Proceed about 100' on Letcher until you enter VMI.    Park along the parade ground (the large open field to your left).

The instructions above will lead you to Letcher Ave, moving from left to right in the map shown below.  Letcher Ave. is bordered to the left by the parade ground and to the right by a row of academic buildings. 

To get to my office, travel down Letcher Ave. about two-thirds of the length of the parade ground until you see Nichols Engineering Hall on your right (circled in red above) -- it has a tall statue in the front.

Enter the main entrance behind the statue.  To get to the ECE office, turn left and it is marked at the end of the hall.  To get to my office, turn right from the main entrance and go up one flight of stairs.  My office is roughly directly ahead, room 620.

Exit at 191 (left exit) from I-81 onto I-64W.

In 1 mile take exit 55 to Lexington/VMI.

Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto 11S.

Turn left at the 3rd light (a little less than a mile) onto Old Buena Vista Road (SR631).  It will be just before a bridge at the corner of Jefferson Florist on the right and East Lexington Convenience Store on the left.

In 2 miles, just after going under the overpass, turn left onto Mountain View Rd. (SR 705).

Travel 4 miles (past the switchback and amazing view at 2.5 miles and through the intersection at 3 miles).

Immediately after passing “Wild Bluebird Lane” and sign for “Marlbrook Acres” on left, the next gravel driveway on left is ours.  1949 is on the black mailbox.

Exit at 191 from I-81 and follow the directions above starting at  the third bullet.

As on the map above, continue traveling N. on Letcher Ave. past the parade ground on your left, past Nichols Hall on your right, and stay to the right down the steep hill (for cadets: head down the road past Crozet).  It ends at an angle with 11; make a hard left turn onto 11N which depending on the current signs may require you to turn right on 11S and then make any convenient U turn.

Just after the bridge over the Maury River (less than a mile) make a right onto Old Buena Vista Road (SR631).  It will be at the corner of East Lexington Convenience Store on the right and Jefferson Florist on the left.

In 2 miles, immediately after the I-81 overpass, turn left onto Mountain View Road.

Travel 4 miles (past the amazing view at 2.5 miles and through the intersection at 3 miles).

Right after passing “Wild Bluebird Lane” and sign for “Marlbrook Acres” on left, the next gravel driveway on left is ours.  Over the black mailbox is a green 1949 house number sign.
